Technical seminar on "Capacity Building of Female Veterinarians for Future Professional Entrepreneurships"

A technical seminar on "Capacity building of female veterinarians for future professional entrepreneurships" was jointly organized by Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (FV&AS), PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, FARTAL pharmaceuticals and World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) in the PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi. The Chief organizer for this event was Dean FV&AS, Prof. Dr. Arfan Yousaf and committee members were Dr. Aayesha Riaz, Dr. Syeda Maryam Hussain and Dr. Evelyn Saba. The chief guest and Keynote speaker were Dr. Fareeha Talha and Dr. Talha. The chairmen of all departments within FV&AS and female veterinary students from all semesters were also present in the seminar.

Dr. Aayesha Riaz welcomed the guests with an address emphasizing on the gender balance change and need for entrepreneurship within veterinary profession. She highlighted the fact since the number of females in all fields of life particularly in veterinary medicine has been increased dramatically while the number of jobs is still the same, therefore there is a dire need of capacity building of female veterinary students to initiate their own setups. Moreover, she also talked about number of female veterinary business women which are very few.

Dr. Evelyn Saba introduced Dr. Fareeha Talha and provided detail about her involvements in multiple activities including, philanthropy, animal activism, business etc.

Dr Fareeha Talha after the introduction was invited to the rostrum to deliver her lecture on the Capacity building of female veterinarians for future professional entrepreneurships. She communicated with the female students in a professional interactive manner. She involved the students in different activities which made this session interesting. She started off with her early career life and problems and ambiguities that she faced during that time. Next, she motived the students with her own story as to how she opted and chose to open a pharmaceutical company. Her success story was applauded by all and many questions and discussions were initiated thereafter.

Dr Talha also motivated the female veterinary students by having a short and crisp discussion of social issues and gender balance of the society.

Prof. Dr. Arfan Yousaf, Dean FV&AS concluded the seminar with knowledgeable insights on female veterinary entrepreneurships and linking it with social strata of the society. He thanked all the worthy guests for their attendance.He also acknowledged the efforts of committee members organizing this seminar which was first of its kind on this topic. The seminar was concluded by presenting the shields of honor to the chief guest, Dr. Fareeha Talha and Dr. Talha. Sheilds as a token of appreciation were also presented to the organizing committee.
