Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) organized a special Cleanliness Awareness Campaign on May 13, 2026 under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman. The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from Deans, Directors, faculty members, administrative officers, staff and students across the university.
Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman stated that a clean environment is not only essential for good health but also reflects a civilized and responsible society. He said that a university is not merely a center of education; it is also an institution for character building and social responsibility. He emphasized that it is a collective duty of everyone to play an active role in keeping the environment clean, beautiful, and safe.
While addressing the students, he remarked that students are the future of the nation and should adopt cleanliness as an integral part of their daily lives. He encouraged them to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in classrooms, corridors, and all areas of the university and to become role models for others through their positive actions.
The Vice Chancellor also appreciated the efforts of faculty members and administrative officers, stating that their active participation reflects the university’s commitment not only to academic excellence but also to promoting social values, environmental awareness, and national responsibility.
During the campaign, participants visited different areas of the university campus and actively collected litter, including empty juice cans, plastic shoppers, and other waste materials, contributing practically towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Many participants filled multiple bags with garbage, demonstrating their sense of responsibility and commitment to environmental cleanliness.
At the conclusion of the campaign, all participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cleanliness drives, environmentally friendly activities, and awareness campaigns in the future to further strengthen the spirit of responsible citizenship among students.
