The final match and prize distribution ceremony of the Inter-Faculty Badminton Championship held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), here on Thursday.

The 03-day championship held from June 17 -19, 2014 and more than 40 students competed with dedication and fervor in categories of Men’s Single, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles. On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad Vice Chancellor, PMAS-AAUR was the chief guest.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, PMAS-AAUR said that University is striving hard to provide maximum opportunity to youngsters to enhance their sporting skills. He further stated that PMAS-AAUR is not only focusing on academic excellence but is also providing a contributive environment for co-curricular activities to the students. These activities help in grooming physical, intellectual and social attributes in the students, he added. At the end, Vice Chancellor distributed prizes and certificates among the winners of championship.

In the Women’s Singles final, Ms Komal, student of University Institute of Management Sciences (UIMS) defeated Ms.  Ufaq   Student of Agriculture Faculty by21-16,21-14. In Women’s Doubles, Ms. Marryam, student of University Institute of Information Technology along with her partner Ms. Irum defeated the team of Ms. Sheher Bano and Ms.Ishrat Fatima by 21-18, 21-16.

In the Men’s Singles Mr. Abdul Basit, Student of Agriculture Faculty defeated Mr. Asif Bader, student of Education Department by 21-11, 14-21, and 21-15. Mr. Noor Muhammad & Mr. Muhammad Ikram students of Agriculture Faculty beat Mr. Umaish Khan  & Mr. Kamran Munir students of University Institute of Information Technology team by 21-12, 14-21, 21-16 in the Men’s Doubles.
