Inter-Faculty girls Badminton Championship held at PMAS-AAUR



Inter-Faculty girls Badminton Championship ended at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), on March 06, 2015.

On the occasion, PMAS-AAUR, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad was the chief guest and Mr. Muhammad Shahid Ch. Member, Implementation & Monitoring, Ministry for Planning, Development and Reform was the guest of honor.

Speaking on the occasion, the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad said “These activities help in grooming physical, intellectual and social attributes among the students. PMAS-AAUR is striving hard to provide maximum opportunity to youngsters to enhance their sporting skill, he added. Vice Chancellor congratulated the winning team and promised to continue such sporting competitions in future as well.

 

Mr. Muhammad Shahid Ch. Member, Implementation & Monitoring, Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform in his address said it is commendable that PMAS-AAUR is organizing such events for women for their welfare and uplift. He said such events provide girls opportunity to demonstrate their talent in the sports. He suggested to the sports department of PMAS-AAUR to further groom the girls who played well in the championship, so that they can have a chance to show their talent both at national and international levels.

 

In women’s singles final, Ms Nazra student of Faculty of Basic Sciences defeated Ms Irum student of university institute of information technology by 21-16, 21-14. In women’s doubles, Ms Nafeesa & Ms Nazra Ms Irum, students of Basic Sciences Faculty beat Ms. Nayyer & Ms. Irum students of Division of Continuing Education, Home Economics & Women Development by 21-18, 21-13.

 

More than 30 teams’ participated and 104 matches were played in the championship under the supervision of PMAS-AAUR Sports Instructor Shehrish Gillani.  A large number of students and faculty members watched matches and supported their teams and departments.
