The spring tree plantation campaign has started at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), on March 10, 2015, with an aim to create awareness among students about the importance of trees and to highlight the significance of green and healthy environment.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, PMAS-AAUR was the chief guest who formally inaugurated the campaign of tree plantation by planting a sapling at Main Campus. The ceremony was attended by Deans/Directors, Registrar, teaching/administrative staff and students of the University.

While addressing, Vice Chancellor said that a greener environment is vital for a healthy nation. He said that plantation of trees would purify the environment, which would help to reduce the pollution. He urged the participants to take active part in the campaign. He advised every student to plant two plant species and take care of them for their period of stay at the University.  It is very important to keep a cleaner and greener campus for the generations to come, the Vice Chancellor added. He stressed upon the need for holding such campaigns on a regular basis and appreciated the efforts of the organizers in promoting the green culture on the campus.

After planting the sapling, participants prayed for the solidarity of the country and progress of the University.
