2nd day activities of Pothwar Art and Literature festival at PMAS-AAUR



Sports and cultural activities at the Pir Mehr Ali Shah-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) continued on the second day of the 1st  Pothwar Art and Literature festival here on Tuesday.

 

 

Regional Dance, Debates, Punjabi Takra, Singing, Documentaries competitions were held in the university and participated by enthusiastic students on the second day of festival.

 

On the occasion, Shiekh Aftab Ahmad,  Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs was the chief guest while Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh, MD, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal  was the guest of honor. He also planted a tree in University premises.

 

While addressing, Minister Shiekh Aftab Ahmad said that said students should be the embodiment of honesty, integrity, hard-work, commitment and gear up for assuming the responsibility of making Pakistan a progressive and prosperous country.  He said students are the hope of future Pakistan. He  assured students that the current problems will be solved soon and the country would emerge as a developed country.  He urged  that faculty members should guide youth in career selection, as youth career counseling helps the student community in their future career planning. Shiekh Aftab Ahmad also planted a tree and inaugurated a fountain in University premises.

 

Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh,in his address applauded  the organizers as well as students for arranging such a lively activities that are requisite for promoting healthy society.

 

Earlier PMAS-AAUR, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad in his address,  said that healthy activities can promote the sense of competition and boldness. He stated that the active participation of the students in different extra-curricular activities is essential for inculcating a sense of responsibility, discipline, obedience and punctuality in them. VC said that he is satisfied with the enthusiasm and spirit shown by the students. These competitions provide a platform to students where they could demonstrate their skills, he added. He hoped that such activities would be continued at all level in future as well. Vice Chancellor also presented souvenirs to the guests and judges.

 

 In song competition more than 15 students participated and presented national, regional songs and traditional music. In song competition, Imran Ali student of Management Sciences got first positions while Qurat ul Ain student of Women Division and Kashif Hussain student of Forestry Faculty got second and  third positions respectively.

 

 In debate competition, Rubab Younas Student of Sciences faculty, M. Waheed Student of Information Technology and Iqra Rehman student of Agriculture Faculty secured first, second and third positions respectively.

 

In Punjabi Takra, Samavia Mustafa student of Agriculture Faculty, Adeel Chaudhry student of Management Sciences and M. Umair Aziz of Veterinary Faculty obtained first, second and third positions, respectively.

 

In Volleyball championship Agriculture Faculty team defeated Forestry faculty team by 3-1. The Vice Chancellor congratulated the winning team on the occasion.
