Flag Hosting Ceremony Held at PMAS-AAUR



To commemorate the country’s Independence Day, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), with renewal of the pledge to make the country, strong, progressive, prosperous and self-reliant, here  on Friday.

 

The vice-chancellor PMAS-AAUR, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, , Registrar,  deans of all faculties, administrative officers, employees and a large number of students attended the ceremony. Addressing the gathering, PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad congratulated the nation on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day and said that this day is the symbol of freedom, national identity and sovereignty of the Muslims of Indo-Pak sub-continent.

 

The Vice Chancellor also paid tributes to martyrs, workers and leaders of Pakistan Movement whose sacrifices paved way for our independence. He also reminded the collective sacrifices rendered by thousands of people for achieving independence. Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad reiterated that the dream of the Father of Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah can only materialize if the literacy and higher education standard is brought at par with the international contemporary needs.

 

He urged every Pakistani to educate their children and jointly work for a progressive, tolerant, moderate and pluralistic Pakistan. He also elaborated that he with his team of highly qualified faculty and management is striving for the development of the university round the clock and will ultimately take it to the international level. He urged upon students and faculty members to work hard with commitment and dedication so that to make University a model institution in line with contemporary global standards. He stressed the parents to keep their children aware of the sacrifices and untiring efforts made by the elders.

 

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor hoisted the national flag which was followed by the national Anthem. The security personnel of PMAS-AAUR saluted to the national flag. A special prayer was also offered for the prosperity and solidarity of the country. Young boys and girls were carrying miniature Pakistani flags which they warmly waved during proceedings of the function and presented national songs. Sweets were also distributed among children. The University has been also decorated with illuminations, national flags, and, banners to celebrate the day.
