The Faculty of Crop and Food Sciences (FCFS) won the Inter-faculty Basketball Championship by beating University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) by the score of 54-41 in the final match of the championship here on Thursday, at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR).

The three days championship was organized by Directorate of Sports and PMAS-AAUR, Vice chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad was the chief guest. A total of seven teams took part in the event including faculty of Crop and Food Sciences, faculty of Sciences, faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, University Institute of Information Technology, University Institute of Management Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Faculty of forestry & Wildlife Management.

Muhammad Hammad player of FCFS team was the backbone and best scorer of his team’s triumph contributing 27 points. He was ably supported by Shahnawaz 13. Mr. Wahaj of University Institute of Information Technology team played very well and was the top contributor with 21 baskets.

Addressing on the occasion, Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad congratulated the winners of the championship and distributed prizes/certificates among the players.  He said that sports activities not only play an important role in physical fitness and mind sharpness but also build the confidence and self-esteem. He appreciated the discipline and behavior of the players and the efforts of organizers for organizing this healthy event . He  advised students to continue this spirit in their future practical lives.

A large number of students and faculty members were present and enjoyed the game and hoped that such event would be organized in future as well.
