The Inter-Faculty Football Championship started at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, PMAS-AAUR was the chief guest who formally inaugurated the inter-faculty championship. While addressing the ceremony, he said that games taught of the lesson of winning & losing and created team spirits amongst players and kept them healthy and active. He appreciated the discipline and behavior of the players and advised them to continue this spirit in their practical lives. He lauded the efforts of the Directorate of Sports for promoting the sports on the campus and said that physical activities along with academic should be encouraged in educational institutions.

On the first day of the championship, three matches were played, which was won by Barani Institute of Information Technology by defeating University Information Technology Team by 7-6 goals. The second match was won by University Institute of Management Sciences by defeating Doctor of Veterinary Medicine by 2-0 goals. The third match was won by Basic Sciences team by defeating Agriculture team by 3-0 goals. A large number of students and faculty members witnessed the matches.

As many as nine teams are participating from different faculties and teams have been divided into two pools and the matches will be played on knockout basis. The final match will be played on December 17, 2015.
