The two days 2nd Pothwar Art and Literature Festival 2016 began at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) here on Wednesday. 

Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR was the chief guest while Deans, Directors, faculty members and large number of students were also present at the inaugural ceremony of the event.

On first day, different competitions including Qiraat & Naat, Drama, Essay, Poster, Photography, Documentary, Smart activity relating students’ presentation, Handkerchief, three leg Race and Tug of War were held. The audience also enjoyed the competitions and appreciated skills and performance of the students.

While addressing, Prof. Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR said that co- curricular activities play a vital role in personality development of youth and such activities promote positive sense of competition among them.

He said that sports and co-curricular activities were held annually to ensure a healthy body and a healthy mind. He advised the young students to focus on the enlightenment of mind, coupled with fitness of the body.

He appreciated the organizers for making the festival successful despite non favorable conditions. He also lauded the students for their excellent demonstration, keen interest and well preparation.
