International Seminar on “Challenges of United Nations and Legal Migration to Europe” was held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), on October 30, 2023.

Seminar was organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences while former senior executive of the United Nation Dr. Afsar Rathor was guest speaker.

While addressing the participants, Dr. Afsar Rathor enumerated the complicated phenomena of the world and presented his vision on how we can move forward in the present situation. He said that the United Nations (UN) provides peace and security throughout the world and has countless achievements and experience in peacekeeping operations.

According to him, the main objectives of the UN are to maintain international peace and security, take actions collectively, and to promote cooperation among the nations to support the resolution of the issues in the areas of economics, social, humanitarian, and human rights matters. He highlighted the challenges of the United Nations and suggested their solutions.

He also advised the students to get the opportunities of jobs in the different institutions of UN organization and play an active role in facilitating your own country and nation.

Dr Asif also talked about the legal migration to Europe. He was of the view that there are many legal ways available to migrate to Europe, then why we adopt the illegal ways. He motivated and advised the participants to visit the websites of the embassies of different countries of Europe, get information and apply for a visa directly without involving any third person.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences addressed the participants about the role of the UN in promoting peace and security. He also advised the audience, particularly the students, to apply for jobs in the UN to become a part of internal society and play their role for their country and the nation.

Earlier, Dr. Muhammad Arshad Dahar, Department of Education welcomed the guests and participants of the workshop. He also shared the theme and objectives of organizing this seminar.
