Good Beekeeping Practices for Sustainable Apiculture
A Three Day Training Workshop on Queen Rearing and Good Bee-keeping Practices
for Sustainable Apiculture (26-28 Dec, 2023) was organized by the Bee Research Unit,
Department of Entomology (FA), PMAS-AAUR.
Esteemed speakers and experts from the field shared their expertise during the
workshop. 45 participants throughout the country participated and got training on Good
beekeeping practice and scope of apiculture for income generation, Nosema and Foul
Brood management, Bank Financing for beekeeping Entrepreneur, Role of bees in crop
pollination and their floral requirements, Hornets, Bee eater birds and wax moth
management, Modern method of royal jelly production, Effective marketing of honey for
local and international buyers, Planning and execution of Modern Queen Rearing
Methods, Standard practices for honey harvesting and quality assurance for export
markets. Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. M. Naeem participated as a Chief
guest. The Vice Chancellor said that bees are crucial for sustainable agriculture to their
vital role in crop pollination and biodiversity. He urged the participants to get maximum
benefit from the workshop and do profitable beekeeping by getting more honey and
other valuable products like royal jelly, pollens, propolis and bee venom.
