A Chinese delegation visited Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), on August 20, 2024

The delegation visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening Pakistan-China friendship and cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The delegation discussed the areas of mutual interest in various disciplines to collaborate in future. The visit focused on agricultural research and innovation, with both sides holding productive discussions. As a token of their cooperation, the Chinese delegation also informed the participants of the meeting that China pledged to donate and install a state-of-the-art irrigation system at the University Research Farm, Koont. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing this contribution will be signed soon.

Earlier, the delegation was welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem and Dean, Faculty of Agriculture PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. Tariq Mukhtar. PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem briefed about university mission, functions, & programmes and also shared various achievements & initiatives and apprised on the completed, ongoing and proposed academic & research projects with the delegation. He hoped for research and academic collaboration in the areas of high efficiency Irrigation system and other joint research activities. Deans and Directors of concerned disciplines also discuss potential areas of collaboration to strengthen the ties of academics and research programmes.
