Marking a significant step toward sustainable agriculture and international collaboration, a Pak-China International Training Workshop on Modern Agricultural Water Saving Irrigation Tech-nologies was held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS- AAUR). The workshop is jointly organized by the Xinjiang Tianye Water-Saving Irrigation Co., Ltd. (China), National Engineering Research Center for Water-Saving Irrigation (Xinjiang, China) and Center for Modern Agriculture & Water Efficient Technologies (CMAWET), Faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology (FAE&T), PMAS-AAUR.
In his opening remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman emphasized the critical importance of water conservation in addressing global challenges such as climate change, population growth, and food security. He said that this workshop is a timely initiative, aiming to build local capacity and foster global cooperation through cutting-edge water- saving irrigation technologies.
He also noted the international dimension of the event, high-lighting the participation of eight expert trainers from China and three specialists from PMAS-AAUR’s Faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology.
The workshop brings together a diverse group of government officials, technical experts, researchers, industry representatives, and farm managers from across the country. Participants will benefit from a comprehensive training model that includes classroom sessions, field demonstrations, hands-on practice, and technical discussions, all designed to bridge the gap between research and real-world application.
