International Training Workshop “AGRISAT 2025” held at PMAS-AAUR

A Two-day (November 12-13, 2025) International Training Workshop on Agriculture Using Satellite Data (AGRISAT 2025) held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), here on Wednesday. The workshop was organized by PMAS- AAUR’s Institute of Geo Information & Earth Observation (IGEO) under the Pak-China Joint Research Project.


Chairman CMIT & MPA Punjab Assembly Mr. Raja Abdul Hanif was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural session. Highly reputed and renowned scientists and researchers from different institutions of Pakistan and China were participated in the workshop. The event was organized in both physical and online mode where some international speakers physically joined the workshop and some of them delivered their talks online.


Speaking at the occasion, Chief Guest Mr. Raja Abdul Hanif emphasized the vital role of technology and innovation in transforming Pakistan’s agricultural landscape. He said that in the face of climate change and resource constraints, the integration of satellite data with agricultural planning is no longer optional—it is essential. Initiatives like AGRISAT 2025 reflect our nation’s commitment to sustainable and smart agriculture, powered by science, collaboration, and innovation. He further lauded PMAS-AAUR’s efforts in fostering international cooperation and building local capacity for technological advancement in the agriculture sector.


Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman extended a warm welcome to all distinguished guests, speakers, and participants. He highlighted that AGRISAT 2025 is designed to strengthen regional and international collaboration in the application of remote sensing and geospatial technologies for data-driven agricultural management. He added that this workshop provides a unique platform for knowledge exchange and technical collaboration to advance precision agriculture and ensure food security through science-led innovation. He also commended the efforts of the organizing team, particularly Dr. Naveed Tahir, Director IGEO, and Dr. Muhammad Amin, Principal Investigator of the Pak-China Joint Research Project, for their dedication in making the event possible.


The workshop features technical sessions, hands-on training modules, and expert lectures covering diverse themes such as remote sensing applications in crop monitoring, climate resilience, soil health assessment, and water resource management. Participants from both academia and industry are engaging in collaborative learning and experience-sharing to promote data-informed agricultural practices.
