The three-day Interfaculty Boys Football Championship 2025–26 successfully concluded at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) with thrilling matches and enthusiastic participation from across the campus. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by the Director Sports, Mr. Rana Zahid Qamar, while the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, graced the final match as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman congratulated the winning team and appreciated the Directorate of Sports for successfully organizing the event. He emphasized that co-curricular and sports activities are essential for students’ holistic development alongside education and research. He added that education should not be confined to classrooms alone, physical fitness is the foundation of a healthy mind, and sports instill discipline, teamwork, leadership, and tolerance qualities that shape responsible and resilient individuals ready to meet life’s challenges.
The championship featured 10 teams representing various faculties and institutes of the University. The final was contested between the University Institute of Management Sciences (UIMS) and the University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT). After an intense match that ended goalless in regular time, the title was decided through penalty kicks, where UIMS emerged victorious by 4–2, showcasing remarkable skill, composure, and teamwork.
Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman reiterated the University’s commitment to promoting a balanced academic environment where learning and physical wellbeing go hand in hand. He encouraged students to actively participate in healthy sporting activities and lauded the Directorate of Sports for fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus culture. At the closing ceremony, the Vice Chancellor distributed trophies, medals, and certificates among the winners, while appreciating the runner-up team for their spirited performance.
