Awareness and Orientation Session for Postgraduate Students

Directorate of Advanced Studies, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) organized an Awareness and Orientation Session for Postgraduate Students to enhance their research capacity, familiarize them with institutional research frameworks, and introduce new academic initiatives. The session featured multiple agenda items aimed at strengthening the research culture of the University. These included the launching of the International Research Collaboration Lecture Series for postgraduate students, training sessions on essential components of research such as review of literature, material and methods, data analysis, and literature cited. Furthermore, the Postgraduate Research Review & Evaluation Committee presented its framework for monitoring student progress, while a briefing was given on the upcoming Poster Session scheduled for February 2026.


Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR, emphasized the University’s continued commitment to training and capacity building of postgraduate scholars. He highlighted that effective monitoring and evaluation systems, adherence to research ethics, and a focus on quality assurance are fundamental to achieving international standards in higher education. The Vice Chancellor encouraged students to actively engage in research that contributes to national development and global scientific knowledge. He further added that initiatives like the International Research Collaboration Lecture Series and specialized training programs will equip students with the skills required for impactful research and meaningful academic contributions.


The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where faculty members and postgraduate students shared their views and suggestions for strengthening the research ecosystem at the University.
