A candidate wheat variety (AUR-809) developed by the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics ranked top in the “National Uniform Wheat Yield Trial (NUWYT 2012, Rain-fed). NUWYT was planted on 15 different rain-fed locations of Pakistan and AUR-809 ranked top among 15 genotypes developed by various research institutes of Pakistan. This genotype is high yielding and possesses considerable resistant against rust diseases which is a major problem of presently cultivated wheat varieties in Pakistan. The AUR-809 would be a marvelous addition to the existing wheat varieties list which certainly will meet the requirements of farming community of rain-fed area.
